  • Certifications: Compliance with strict international standards concerning quality management and environmental protection has earned the Natuzzi Group two important certificates: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and E-1 certification, as proof of our commitment to operating with low environmental impact. It is this continuous research for superior quality that lets us offer a 10-year warranty on the structure of our products and 2 years on padding, mechanisms and upholstery.
Our company is never satisfied, however, and has thus created its very own Quality Laboratory, responsible for testing every sofa component to ensure that each one complies with the strictest international standards as well as guaranteeing maximum comfort and resistance to wear: the materials are subjected to repeated tests in order to measure their performance and resistance over time in every situation and weather condition.
The special polyurethane foam padding is patented and developed at our facilities in Italy
  • Sustainability: From 2011, the International Year of Forests, declared by the United Nations, the Company is committed to improve its already advanced principles and criteria of good governance, for the protection and enhancement of trees and forests. According to the Company Philosophy, the wood is considered an excellent material, in terms of quality and environmental condition, but only if it is legally produced and comes from forests managed in a responsible manner. For this reason, Natuzzi Group does not accept wood illegally extracted from unchecked and endangered forests.
Natuzzi Group points to the sustainability by using: materials derived from wood, which contain minimal or zero amounts of formaldehyde, in line with the strictest international legislation; polyurethane foam for upholstery made in total absence of freon
  • Social responsibility: Throughout its history, the Natuzzi Group has never lacked energy, both to face the challenges of growth and to cope with crises. It is clean energy because it comes from passion and responsibility; and it is renewable, because it comes from an inexhaustible enthusiasm.
21,000 photovoltaic panels have been installed on rooftops of Natuzzi plants and trading offices in Puglia and Basilicata (Italy). Once again, it is clean and renewable energy.
The photovoltaic systems will assure an annual reduction of approximately 3400 tonnes in CO2 emissions, equal to the annual emission of about 1200 cars. At the present moment, five photovoltaic systems have already been installed on plants in Santeramo in Colle, Matera and Laterza.
The adoption of renewable energy demonstrates the purpose of the company to control the environmental impacts of its production activities and seek improvement in a coherent, effective and, above all, sustainable way. The Natuzzi Group ensures the absence of hazardous and even toxic chemical products in the process of production and packaging.
Pasquale Natuzzi commented: “Our commitment for sustainable development is not only a responsibility, but also an opportunity. It expresses a forward-looking investment which is fundamental for every company's continuity. Renewable energies are also an opportunity to compete keeping the operating costs low. Combining the sustainable development with the competition is a challenge that our company wants to carry on in order to improve the quality of life in the territory”

  • In 2014, the Environmental Management System of ARAB PRINTING PRESS has been certified to ISO 14001: 2004, which makes APP the first printing press and the 7th industrial company in Lebanon as well as the first printing firm in the Middle East region to achieve this certification. It is the policy of APP to protect and preserve the environment, in fulfilling this responsibility; APP adheres to some fundamental principles:
Complying fully with environmental laws and regulations (regular tests for liquid waste and gas emissions). Considering environmental factors when making planning, purchasing, and operating decisions (new machines, new raw materials…). Seeking to prevent pollution before it is produced, reducing the amount of waste at our facilities (paper, plates and pallets) and supporting pollution prevention measures by our customers and suppliers. Using energy efficiently throughout our operations, re-using and recycling whenever possible (recycling all the paper, plastic, metal and wood waste…), and using environmentally friendly materials (alkoless fountain, powder, we used 305203 liters of green diesel in 2015). Working cooperatively with others to achieve optimum environmental objectives
  • Installed, in 2014, a new printing machine KBA 106 it’s a green machine: Low impact on the environment, low energy consumption, Low noise, less powder and alcohol consumption
  • Shifted in January 2015 to using Led Lights in the entire factory (5000 sqm)
  • Implemented in March 2015 a 136.75 KWp On-Grid Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant; The yearly energy production of this station is 208 MWh and the yearly GHG emissions savings is 104 Ton_Co2. It’s one of the largest projects in Lebanon. A Net-Metering System is connected to APP’s EDL electrical station; If APP PV station produces more power at any given moment than the plant consumes, the extra power will flow into EDL’s electrical grid. This project was an occasion for APP to raise the public awareness about the clean technologies that promote sustainable energy and advance the use renewable energy sources by: sending emails to our clients and suppliers, clients meetings and conferences
  • Has been added, in May 2015, to the register of participants to the UN Global Compact. As a participant, APP commits to the 3 principles of this Global Compact related to the environment: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges; Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies
  • For two consecutive years (2014 &2015) the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Development Programme awarded APP for reporting its greenhouse gas emissions. The APP GHG emissions savings in 2014 were 300 ton_CO2 and the energy savings were 398900 kWh, these savings were the result of: Installing a new printing machine KBA 106; moving all heat-emitting auxiliaries to non-cooled / non-treated areas; applying high reflective paint to the metallic roof to reduce the cooling load. In 2015, two new environmental projects were executed: Led lighting and solar PV station; the yearly GHG emissions savings became: 515 ton_CO2, and the yearly energy savings 736100 KWh

  • Our core raw material, polypropylene, is environmentally compatible and recyclable by nature
  • No solid wastes are generated from our industrial and production processes, as all the reject and scrap material are recycled and processed into new products for non-water application, such as: tagging labels, storage protection caps for pipes, wall fixations, hangers, bags, etc. API ensures that recoverable plastic waste is never reprocessed into the pipe & fitting production, as this could undermine the quality outcome of our products
  • No liquid wastes are generated from our operations; Hydraulic and diesel oils used in injection processes are treated and reclaimed. An online oil filtering system, allows us to use the same oil almost 4 times its expected lifetime. In simpler means, we’ve decreased our oil waste by 66%. After final consumption, the oils are transferred to a recycling institution, and reconditioned for alternative applications
  • In both, the Zouk factory and the Dbayeh offices, garbage is collected and sorted into categorized recycling bins and sent for proper treatment. This is an employee-led initiative and is in collaboration with local municipalities and concerned NGO’s
  • Water, as a resource, is used economically; we use a closed loop filtered water-cooling system, to help minimize wastewater that is generated during production processes
  • Sewage system is connected to a localized water-waste treatment plant
  • API is proud to be the first factory and industry in the Middle East, and the fifth worldwide, to install a Photovoltaic Hybrid System at its premises:  The roof of the factory is covered by 1250 m2 farm of PV solar panels producing 192 kW The PV output is synchronized with the power generated from local Diesel generators, resulting in a diesel saving of 70 tons/year and an annual solar energy yield of 240MWh. This set-up reduces the fuel consumption of the generator. API is now a greener industry by saving 170 T of CO2, 4.6 T of NOX and 306 kg of SOX annually

  • By right types of glass, we try to convince the architects and developers working in this country to use high performance glazing that end up with lower electrical consumption requirements due to the temperature control in their building and hence less ACs or Heaters while maximizing the light entering their buildings in order to reduce the lighting required in the day time too. We have been training our people on such types of glass by international glass companies consistently, and have had our factory certified by them (first to achieve this) in order to be able to provide such types of glass when needed
  • Studying the option of having PV on grid systems with a German based supplier “METRIC” in order to have some of our electrical power coming from the system for our daily production instead of our generators. This is kind of a huge investment, yet with the loans provided for such systems we will be starting soon and hence contribute in using less traditional electrical supplies and switching to solar electricity and of course lower charges for the years to come
  • Preparing the plans for our new building that will be under construction as of spring 2017. The building will be based on some green requirements, such as facades made of solar panels instead of regular glass to help with what is being studied now, a green roof and so on
  • Regarding our waste management, we have been filtering the glass wastes we have in order to sell the glass that can be recycled instead of dumping them randomly. The other types of solid wastes (steel, plastics, wood…) are also filtered and given to people who sue them as recyclables
  • Installed a water treatment plant (RO system) in our factory to filter the water we use (and it is to note that the water consumption in our industry is huge) in order to reuse the water instead of dumping it too
  • As a small symbol of commitment towards the nature, we have been using trees as gifts that we usually send to our preferable clients (over a 100) every end of the year. This has been going on for the past 4 years, and cedars, olive trees… have been gifted

  • During 2015 and 2016, we managed to recycle up to 80% of our waste. We initiated a sorting system which involved training our staff on sorting garbage principles. Our paper and carton based material is picked up by a small business that sells recyclable material to carton producers, same applies to plastic / nylon based material.  As far as household waste in our office kitchens and offices, the same sorting principles are applied and we are delivering sorted recyclable garbage to “Jam3iyat el Mou3ak wal Moujtama3” in Tabarja.  This organization sells recyclable material and its proceeds go to helping handicapped and people in need
  • We continue to reduce paper printing waste, electricity bills with our fuel efficient habits and so on
