Energy Providers

Some Lebanese companies and organizations have already passed the green light. Here are some examples:

  • IPT Energy Center (IPTEC), a specialized research center established by IPT in 2012 to fulfill its CSR objectives, has organized the 2nd edition of the Energy Awareness Awards to recognize efforts put forth by private sector companies, municipalities, universities, technical schools, and entrepreneurs in the field of energy sustainability in Lebanon
  • Launched its first sustainable and eco-friendly gas station in Lebanon, built in compliance with a report prepared by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) that aims to save energy and water, reduce emissions, protect the soil and ground water, and collect waste for eventual treatment and reuse
  • Released its first CSR report which focuses on three main pillars: workplace, environment, and community, and dedicated the month of March on its annual calendar to raise awareness about reducing its environmental footprint by adopting eco-friendly business practices
  • Dr. Toni Issa, Vice Chairman of IPT Group and IPTEC’s President, was, in 2018, selected by the UN Global Compact Network Lebanon (GCNL) as a Goal Leader for SDG 7 to promote clean and affordable energy
  • IPTEC participated for the 4th year in a row in IBEF 2018 and organized a session entitled "Transition Towards a Sustainable Land Transport", in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW), Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), and PAC/Harb Electric, in an effort to reduce energy consumption from land transportation and fight the detrimental effects of air pollution on health and environment. This comes as part of the “National Campaign for Air Pollution Reduction in Lebanon through Efficient Energy Use in Land Transportation” campaign, which started in 2012 and resulted in several recommendations that the center is implementing in collaboration with related stakeholders
  • IPTEC and the USEK with the support of the UNDP in Lebanon, signed an MOU to install a pilot plant for the production of biodiesel from Waste Cooking Oil (WCO). The project encourages the collection of WCO in storage tanks available at key IPT stations and on the USEK campus, and processing it into biodiesel (that is both ecologically safer and cheaper) in a pilot plant installed at the USEK campus, to be used in engines and generators
  • IPTEC President Dr. Toni Issa joined the "2018 Hult Prize Lebanon" as part of the judicial panel to identify the winning team who will compete internationally to win the 2018 prize. IPTEC's participation is in line with its commitment to energy sustainability and supports its social and environmental objectives which fall under energy conservation and the efficient use of energy, the reduction of environmental pollution resulting from the use of energy sources, and the promotion of the use of clean, alternative and renewable energy solutions
  • IPTEC launched the First Urb-Hackathon in Lebanon, under the theme "Data-Urbanism: Reducing City Air Pollution from Transport".  The Urb-Hackathon was held for the First time in Lebanon and the Middle East, after France and Korea, with the support of La Cité Des Sciences Et De L'Industrie in Paris
  • IPT offers cleaner and environmentally-friendly products and services at its gas stations including Quantum, an advanced, clean fuel, and IPT Diesel to guarantee less pollution, and more performance
