Beirut River to power 1,000 Homes in April
Government-funded initiative to power 1,000 homes
The ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW) is now in the first phase of the Beirut River Solar Snake (BRSS) project. The government-funded initiative will start to provide one megawatt of electricity to power 1,000 homes in April.

The Beirut River is covered with 3,600 blue solar panels between the Yerevan bridge and the Armenia bridge in Bourj Hammoud.

BRSS will prevent the annual emission of 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

The $3.1 million project is set to eventually generate 10 MW to the power grid. It will be enough to power 10,000 homes.

The timeline to completion has not been confirmed.

Two private renewable energy companies, Phoenix Energy and Asaco, partnered with the MoEW to work on this project.
